Troy, NY -- Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced that Jahteek Sanchez of Rensselaer was sentenced on Wednesday in Rensselaer County Court for his plea to Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class B Violent Felony. Sanchez pled to the Manslaughter charge on May 17.
The Honorable Jennifer Sober sentenced Sanchez to 24 years with 5 years post release supervision.
It was found that Sanchez shot Alexander Crawford, 39 of Troy on July 2, 2023 in front of the Family Dollar in North Troy.
“Mr. Sanchez made a senseless and heinous decision that he takes no responsibility for,” said Assistant District Attorney Spencer Lane who prosecuted the case for the District Attorney’s office. “He minimized his responsibility and showed no remorse.”
