Troy, NY -- Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced today Tyler Shelton, 40, of Troy pled guilty on July 14, 2025 to Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a class D violent felony in violation of Penal Law Section 130.65(4). He was sentenced on August 22, 2025 to 6 years in state prison and 10 years of post release supervision. He will be required to register as a Sex Offender once released from prison. The Defendant used his role as a trusted figure in the child victim’s life and subjected the child to sexual contact.
Assistant District Attorney Antonia Lane prosecuted the case.
