Troy, NY -- Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced that Jeffrey Walker, 30, of Troy, was found guilty following a jury trial in Rensselaer County Court.
Mr. Walker was convicted of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C violent felony, pursuant to PL 265.03[1][b] and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a Class D felony, pursuant to PL 265.02[1] for being found in possession of a machine gun with the intent to use it unlawfully against another.
The conviction results from an October 29, 2024 search of his residence at 356 4th Street in the City of Troy by members of the Parole Division of the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. The search was a part of Rensselaer County’s Gun Involved Violence Elimination Initiative that is orchestrated by NYS Parole with the assistance of local law enforcement agencies. Walker, who was on parole at the time for a prior felony conviction for possessing an illegal firearm, was found at his residence in Troy by members of Parole in possession of a pistol that was modified by a machine gun conversion device, also known as a “switch” to allow it to fire ammunition in a fully automatic fashion. The Troy Police Department responded to assist in the collection and processing of the modified pistol which was found to have Walker’s DNA on it.
"I want to extend my gratitude to the members of the GIVE team, the Troy Police Department, and Rensselaer County Probation for their collaborative and successful efforts in the safe apprehension of Mr. Walker," said District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Spencer Lane and Assistant District Attorney Claire Hewitt prosecuted the cases for the District Attorney’s Office.
