Troy, NY -- Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced today that after a jury trial, Carlos Lewis, 26, of Schenectady was found guilty of Murder in the 2nd degree, a class A-I Felony and Burglary in the 1st degree, a class B Armed Violent Felony.
Lewis was the last to be convicted of three individuals charged in connection with the death of 19-year-old Nathaniel Miller of Pittstown on June 9, 2021. Devin Van Patten pled guilty in his role and is awaiting sentencing which will result in a 20-year sentence in state prison. Kyle Hutchinson was found guilty of Murder in the Second Degree and Burglary in the First Degree in 2023, and was sentenced to 25 years-to-life, and 25 years for the Burglary charge, to run concurrently.
“I want to thank the New York State Police BCI and Major Crimes, the NYSP Forensic Identification Unit and the NYSP Forensic Investigation Center who worked tirelessly to assemble all of the pertinent evidence needed in order to bring the three cases to prosecution,” said Chief Assistant District Attorney Matt Hauf, who prosecuted both Hutchinson and Lewis.
Lewis will be sentenced on February 26 in front of the Hon. Jennifer Sober where he will face a maximum sentence of 25 years to life.
