Troy, NY --Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced today that Taquan Evans, 37, of Troy, was convicted in the late afternoon on May 24th of Murder in the 2nd Degree, (PL 125.25) in the killing of his wife, Georlasia Evans, in Troy on January 15, 2021.
Evans was found guilty by a 7 men and a 6 woman jury that deliberated on the case for one day. Twenty witnesses testified on behalf of the prosecution, which proved Evans strangled his wife. Evans faces twenty five years to life when he is sentenced on June 30 in front of the Honorable Jennifer Sober.
