Troy, NY –Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly’s office announced today that District
Attorney Donnelly was recently installed as the Third Vice President and member of the Executive Board of the
District Attorney’s Association of the State of New York (DAASNY).
At the annual Summer Conference held in Bolton Landing last week, DAASNY installed Rensselaer County
District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly as Third Vice President, a member of the Executive Board.
“I am honored to accept this responsibility as a member of DAASNY’s Executive Board. During my two years
as District Attorney, the structure of criminal law in New York State has undergone massive change. DAASNY
has provided a forum for the free exchange of ideas and strategies, to further the goal of implementing
procedures that ensure that the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s office can continue to provide justice for
our victims. I look forward to taking on this new role,” said Donnelly.
Throughout the pandemic, DAASNY subcommittees met virtually, addressing unprecedented challenges with a
constant emphasis upon ethical issues facing prosecutors.
DAASNY was formed in 1909 as an organization for prosecutors in the State of New York to provide for the
exchange of information and views with respect to the conduct of their offices, the New York State criminal
justice system and the criminal law and operation. DAASNY encourages and fosters communication,
cooperation, training and consultation among and on behalf of the district attorneys and their staffs for matters
concerning the prosecution of crime in New York State and improving the legal system. It is DAASNY’s
collegial approach and the fostering of communication between offices both large and small, upstate and
downstate, with a particular emphasis upon ethical issues facing prosecutors, that helps to ensure greater
fairness, transparency and accuracy within the criminal justice system.
