Rensselaer County Welcomes Test Sites: There will be two COVID-19 testing operations coming to Rensselaer County next week, County Executive Steve McLaughlin announced on Friday
The county will be partnering with Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Center and the IMA Group with Lab Corp to operate testing sites at several locations in the county.
“This is great news for Rensselaer County and our efforts to beat back COVID-19. We have put considerable time and effort into securing test sites for our county, and are excited to get testing started,” said McLaughlin.
“Rensselaer County recognizes the need for expanded testing to treat those in need and to map out a return to normal life. We look forward to expanding testing even further into communities,” added McLaughlin.
The testing with IMA Group and Lab Corp is expected to start next week, and will be conducted at Hudson Valley Community College. More details will be announced on the IMA Group and Lab Corp testing.
The testing with Whitney Young will be done at the upper lot at the County Office Building, 1600 7th Avenue, downtown Troy on Tuesday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Whitney Young will also join the county to do testing in Rensselaer at the City Hall, 62 Washington Avenue, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 7.
And Whitney Young will also join with the county for testing at the Whitney Young Health Center, 802 Second Avenue, Troy, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, May 8.
“Testing is very important to everyone in our county, including the City of Rensselaer. We appreciate testing being brought to our city and look forward to getting information needed to defeat this illness,” said Rensselaer Mayor and Chair of the Legislature Mike Stammel.
Testing with IMA and Lab Corp will also be done by appointment only. More information on that arrangement will be made next week.
