RENSSELAER COUNTY TO DISTRIBUTE FREE CLOTH MASKS TO RESIDENTS ON WEDNESDAY AT FIVE LOCATIONS IN COUNTY
Rensselaer County will distribute free cloth masks to residents this Wednesday as part of efforts to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak, County Executive Steve McLaughlin announced today.
The distribution of the cloth masks to residents will take place at five (5) locations in the county on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The cloth masks were provided to the county by the federal government and are manufactured by Hanes.
The cloth masks can be rewashed and used several times and will help reduce the risk of exposure to residents.
Approved for use by the FDA, the cloth masks are also being distributed to local governments, essential businesses and service organizations still functioning in the county during the COVID-19 outbreak. McLaughlin said he expects to have enough to provide a significant quantity to county residents.
“We appreciate the donation of these cloth masks to Rensselaer County to help protect our residents and want to put these to good use right away across our county,” said McLaughlin.
“The county believes we have enough cloth masks to help local governments, essential businesses and community organizations, and also want to get these into the hands of our residents and families,” added McLaughlin.
“These cloth masks will come in handy in hopefully reducing exposure as we deal with this serious outbreak and work to keep our county as healthy and safe as possible,” said Chair of the Legislature Mike Stammel.
At all locations, motorists will be asked to simply pull their vehicle into the parking area. A package of masks will be handed through the window. There is no need to leave vehicles. There will be no accommodations, including bathrooms, to maintain social distancing. Residents should bring a driver’s license as proof of county residence.
There will be one packet per vehicle. The masks will be distributed on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to county residents at the following locations:
