TROY, NY- District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced today that Shamaiah Davis, 40, of
Albany, NY pleaded guilty before the Honorable Debra J. Young on a D Felony of Assault-2nd
degree: Injure Victim 65 or Older Def at least 10 Years younger (PL 120.05 12 D F 2). The
defendant was remanded to the custody of the Rensselaer County jail.

On May 12, 2020, Davis entered Jimmy’s Luncheonette, at 84 Congress Street, Troy, NY and
assaulted and robbed an employee during an altercation at the restaurant. The employee
sustained several injuries as a result of the defendant striking her in the head and body in order to
steal property. The defendant was located and ultimately arrested by members of the Troy Police
Department on May 15, 2020 after an investigation.

Davis will be sentenced on April 14, 2021, where he could face up to seven years. Assistant
District Attorney Cheryl McDermott prosecuted the case.
