DOMINGUEZ ARRAIGNED IN MURDER OF MISSING MAN
Troy, NY –Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced that a sealed indictment was handed up yesterday for Joseph Dominguez, age 24, of Catskill, NY. The indictment was unsealed this morning in front of the Hon. Jennifer Sober.
Dominguez was arraigned on one count of Murder in the Second Degree, Penal law 125.25 a Class A felony, in the death of Michael McMahon, of Troy. Dominguez pleaded not guilty.
Michael McMahon was reported missing by friends on January 20, 2020. His body was later found in a wooded area in March of 2020 in Coxsackie, NY. The prosecution filed a CPL 710.30 notice of intention to offer at trial evidence of statements made by the defendant.
Assistant District Attorney Cheryl McDermott presented the case to the grand jury.
“We are grateful that this lengthy investigation yielded an indictment, and are thankful for the cooperation of the witnesses that came forward to assist with the investigation,” said Mary Pat Donnelly, Rensselaer County District Attorney.
No future court dates have been set.
