RENSSELAER COUNTY READY TO REPLACE CLOSED CR36 BRIDGE IN BERLIN, COUNTY EXECUTIVE STEVE MCLAUGHLIN ANNOUNCES

Rensselaer County is ready to replace the now-closed County Route 36 bridge in the Town of Berlin, county officials announced.

The small bridge carries CR36 over the Little Hoosic River, and is located a short distance from State Route 22 in the rural community.

Resolutions for the replacement of the CR36 bridge, also known as Park Avenue, have been filed by County Executive Steve McLaughlin for consideration by the County Legislature at the July legislative meeting.

Working is expected to take place during 2025 to replace the bridge, which was closed due to structural and safety issues. Thankfully, there were various detour routes located near the CR36 bridge, which was closed during spring 2022.

“We look forward to getting this important project to replace the County Route 36 bridge underway and completed during 2025,” said County Executive McLaughlin.

“This is a small bridge but one that is important to residents and businesses in the area, along with the nearby school. We appreciate everyone for their patience and are looking ahead to the re-opening,” added McLaughlin.

Improvement of the county’s transportation network has been a priority for McLaughlin since becoming County Executive. The county has paved 300 miles of the 330-miles county road network during the past seven years at McLaughlin’s direction. In 2025, the county will pave the remaining 30 miles of the road network.

“We are very proud that we are completing and improving the entire county road network while paving a record number of miles. This is an important investment in our county and an important way to attract new growth and opportunity here,” said McLaughlin.
