The Rensselaer County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has been in operation since 1949 and strives to be on the cutting edge of Soil and Water Conservation by utilizing the most up to date and science backed practices. The mission of the Rensselaer County Soil and Water Conservation District is to improve water quality, to aid in conservation of the soil and water resources, and to be active in the control and prevention of soil erosion and sedimentation.  The SWCD strives to help improve local land management practices by providing technical assistance to residents, landowners, and units of government in Rensselaer County, NY.
