Our Mission: The Department for Youth will provide youth age birth- twenty-one with opportunities through positive leisure time activities and social intervention to grow and mature into responsible productive adults. We will strive to fund a range and variety of quality programs and services available to all youth.

Office of Children and Family Service Grant: Rensselaer County is allotted an amount that then gets distributed to Agencies and Municipals in the county that focus on Youth Development. Program are monitored to ensure the goals set, are being met.

Summer Food Program: The Food and Nutrition Service, an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), administers the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) at the federal level, while the New York State Education Department (NYSED) administers the program at the state level. Locally, it is operated by sponsors who apply for and are approved to operate the program. The mission of the Summer Food Program is to insure that all children under the age of 18 receive healthy meals during summer vacation.
