    1. Rensselaer County accepts FOIL requests by email. Please fill out the form on this page. All fields are required.

      Fees

      • There will be a charge for records requested pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act pursuant to NY Public Officers Law §87.
      • All photocopied records will be $0.25 per page plus the cost of postage. If maps are requested, the actual cost of reproducing said map will be applied.
      • Electronic records will be charged at a rate of $23 per hour of time required to prepare such records to be sent.
      • If the electronic records are too voluminous to be sent electronically, there will be a charge of $10 per DVD plus postage.

      Payment Required Prior to Release

      Rensselaer County requires payment prior to releasing the records. A payment letter will be sent prior to the release of the records. A check or money order needs to be made payable to Rensselaer County Chief Fiscal Officer and mailed or delivered to:

      Record Review Appointments

      Records can be reviewed prior to release for no charge upon appointment. Please call 518-270-2897 or email FOILrequests@rensco.com to make an appointment. All applicable fees will be assessed on any copies requested.
