COUNTY EXECUTIVE STEVE MCLAUGHLIN TO TESTIFY IN WASHINGTON D.C. BEFORE HOUSE SELECT SUBCOMMITTEE ON THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin has been invited to testify before the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic in Washington D.C. tomorrow, Tuesday, June 4.
McLaughlin is expected to testify on his experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic to members of the Select Subcommittee, which today took testimony from Dr. Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
McLaughlin was the only County Executive in New York State to refuse the March 25, 2020 order by then-Governor Andrew Cuomo forcing COVID positive residents into nursing homes. He also was a frequent critic of contradictory policies issued by Cuomo during the pandemic.
The testimony by McLaughlin was coordinated by Select Subcommittee Chair Brad Wenstrup and Rep. Marc Molinaro, who served as Dutchess County Executive during the pandemic.
