A Naloxbox works similar to an AED machine in being available in public spaces for a health emergency.
Rensselaer County has placed five Naloxboxes throughout areas that have the highest rates of opioid overdoses. The Naloxboxes that have been placed look like the image on the left.
The Naloxbox contains the following:
- 1-2 Narcan Kits
- A CPR mask
- Rescue Breathing Shields
- Instructions to administer Narcan
When the box is opened, the alarm will sound notifying everyone around that there is a potential overdose occurring. If this alarm sounds, please call 911 in addition to administering the Narcan.
The five Naloxboxes have been placed at the following locations:
- Lansingburgh High School
- Joseph's House
- Sky High Adventure Community Center
