Tuesday

Tuesday is for Narcan!

Thank you to everyone that came to our five locations for the Narcan Blitz!  Please look forward to more locations in the future.

If you were unable to attend our Narcan Blitz and are still interested in becoming trained or receiving a free Narcan kit, please use our Naloxone Now program. By texting "NARCAN" to the number 21000, we will work with you to deliver the Narcan kit to your door. You do not have to provide your name if you are uncomfortable, as we will accept anonymous requests.Naloxone NowOpioids have impacted all of our communities in different ways. Rensselaer County experienced a total of 46 fatal overdoses in 2022. As of 2023 so far, we have 25 suspected fatal overdoses. As you can tell, we are on track to double our 2022 numbers. The areas with the highest rates of overdoses, both fatal and non-fatal, in 2022 were Troy, Lansingburgh, and Rensselaer.

To prevent opioid overdoses, Rensselaer County is providing education and awareness throughout the community. Additionally, we are emphasizing the importance of having Narcan and how it can potentially save a life. In 2022, Narcan reversed approximately 86.8% of overdoses in Rensselaer County. This was in help to responding law enforcement, fire departments, and bystanders.

If you are concerned about a loved one or if you are in need of support in finding the best recovery or treatment services, Rensselaer County would like to help you. Through the Recovery Helpline, our volunteers can provide you with the support you need, as well as provide you with information and referrals to recovery and treatment services. It is available from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on a daily basis. You can call 1-833-467-3123 or email at Rensco.helpline@gmail.com
