To enhance the health and well-being of Rensselaer County residents by providing integrated health programs through the formation of partnerships and unified goals among organizations in the community. We will collaboratively build awareness through traditional and nontraditional promotion of wellness.

- 2pm-4pm - IMMUNIZATION CLINIC
- 2pm-4pm - PPD Readings (Tuberculin)
CLINICS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
***REQUIRED*** Must have the most updated copy of immunization records and insurance card at the time of service and be a Rensselaer County Resident.
We will be offering COVID-19 Vaccines at all immunization clinics
Rensselaer County Department of Health will be at the Bulmer Telecommunications Center (BTC) at Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) for a COVID Vaccine Clinic from 3:00 to 6:00 PM each Wednesday.
- Please have your ID and COVID-19 vaccination card, if applicable, ready before checking in
- No appointment needed

Community Health Needs Assessment of 2022
FEBRUARY IS....HEART HEALTH MONTH
Did you know that every 40 seconds, someone has a heart attack or a stroke in the United States?
Heart Health month includes both the education on cardiovascular disease (heart) and cerebrovascular disease (stroke).
In the United States, heart disease is considered to be the number one cause of death.
Factors that Increase Risk of Heart Disease and Stroke:
- High Blood Pressure
- High Blood Cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Overweight
- Physical Inactivity
- Alcohol & Tobacco Use
- Family History of Heart Disease
- Stress
Signs and Symptoms of a Heart Attack:
Although both men and women are affected by heart disease, they may experience a heart attack in different symptoms:
Men | Women |
---|---|
Sweating | Dizziness |
Pain in chest, arms, neck, jaw | Pain between the shoulder blades |
Shortness of breath | Shortness of breath |
Heartburn | Indigestion or gas-like pain |
Indigestion | Fatigue |
Signs of a Stroke:
F – Face: Ask the person to smile to see if their face is drooping on one side
A – Arms: One of their arms may drift downward if you ask them to raise both of their arms
S – Speech: Their speech may be slurred if you ask them a question
T – Time: The sooner you spot these signs, the quicker 911 can be called and the individual can get the care they need.
How can I strengthen my heart health and lower my risk of heart attack or stroke?
- Balanced diet
- Increase your physical activity
- Lower your salt intake
- Limit alcohol and tobacco intake
- Speak with your doctor to discuss your individual risk for heart disease or stroke
