Central Services serves a variety of essential roles tasked to serving the daily operational needs of all other County Departments. The Department is tasked with providing these services in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
The County's Purchasing Procedures and Guidelines are administered by Central Services. Compliance with both County and State requirements for public procurement are monitored by the departmental staff. Providing centralized procurement services is just one of several areas of responsibility. Procurement Card Program Administration, Telecommunications Management, Centralized Printing and Duplication Services and a Centralized Internal and U.S. Mail Distribution Program all fall under the umbrella of the Bureau.
In additional Central Services staff participates in and/or designs and manages a wide variety of centralized programs for County Departments as well as serving as the main point of contact for all other municipalities, special districts, and all other agencies in Rensselaer County eligible to participate in County programs.
