Adopt-A-Family Program

Beginning in 1986, the staff at Rensselaer County Department of Social Services began seeking sponsors from the community to supply money and/or gifts to the department’s most needy families during the holidays.
Over the years the program has grown and in December of 2007, 60 community sponsors participated and 206 children received holiday gifts. Every year the families may change, but the need does not. The families are so grateful for the help and it brings the true meaning of the holidays to the community.
Any organization or individual interested in "adopting a family" or making financial contributions to the program may call Terry at Rensselaer County Department of Social Services at 833-6139.
PLEASE NOTE: This program provides gifts to only the families currently working with RENSSELAER COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES OF NEW YORK STATE. we are not able to sponsor families from other counties or states. |
