Rensselaer County received a grant from FEMA to prepare a multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan and, as such, an invitation was extended to each municipality in the County to join in the process. Every City, Town and Village in the County has formally expressed an interest in participating in the project by executing a Statement of Authority to Participate in the project. By signing the Statement of Authority, each municipality authorized two individuals (a representative and alternate) as local members to serve on the Multi-Jurisdictional Core Planning Group and to actively participate as requested throughout the planning process, and committed to naming its own local hazard mitigation planning committee (“Jurisdictional Assessment Team”).
