Disease Control

The department conducts timely communicable disease investigation of all reportable diseases. Daily contact is made with infection control nurses at area hospitals to monitor disease incidence. Contact is also made with each patient diagnosed with a reportable disease to do required investigation, follow up and disease specific education.

Education and technical assistance is also provided to health care, day care and other human services agencies in the development of exposure control plans and blood borne pathogen policies.
