New York State:
The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) administers the nation's most comprehensive system of services for substance abusing populations. Each day, about 120,000 New Yorkers receive treatment for alcohol and/or drug addiction from OASAS-licensed programs. Services are delivered through a network of over 1,200 community-based providers. OASAS also directly operates 13 Addiction Treatment Centers around the state. In addition to treatment services, thousands of people benefit daily from prevention initiatives carried out by OASAS-sponsored or licensed prevention programs.
