Rensselaer County District Attorney Joel E. Abelove announced today that Andre McClenos, age 56, was sentenced to seven (7) years in state prison and ten (10) years post release supervision, before Honorable Andrew G. Ceresia in Rensselaer County Court.
On June 13, 2016, a jury found McClenos guilty of one (1) count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a class D violent felony. The jury rendered its guilty verdict following a week-long trial. As a part of his sentence, the defendant will have to abide by a full stay away order of protection from the victim, and he must register as a sex offender.
In the afternoon hours of May 14, 2014, McClenos led his victim to an isolated lot located at 5th Avenue and Jacob Street in Troy, where he held the victim down and subjected her to unwanted sexual contact. McClenos was apprehended by the Troy Police Department following a comprehensive investigation.
Abelove said, “This violent and dangerous sexual predator is now off our streets, thanks to the courage and strength of the victim. Our thoughts go out to her and her family as they move forward.”
Assistant District Attorney Dorothy F. Powell prosecuted the case.
