Rensselaer County District Attorney Joel E. Abelove announced today that David Campos, age 46, was sentenced by Honorable Andrew G. Ceresia in Rensselaer County Court for his guilty plea to one (1) count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class A-I felony.
The defendant was sentenced to Twenty (20) Years to Life in state prison, in connection with the November 23, 2015, brutal stabbing death of his estranged wife, Denise Gely. David Campos confronted his wife in the hallway outside her home in Troy, where he stabbed her repeatedly to death, in the presence of his own children as well as a neighbor. After murdering his wife, the defendant fled Troy and was apprehended by the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police in New Jersey, following a lengthy high-speed chase.
“This was a brutal and vicious attack on an innocent victim. The defendant should spend the rest of his life paying for his crime and the emotional pain he has inflicted upon his children.”
