Rensselaer County District Attorney Joel E. Abelove announced today that his office has received a $20,000.00 Domestic Violence grant from the New York State Senate. 2016 marks the first year that the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office has applied for and was awarded Domestic Violence Program funding.

The grant award will be utilized to hold a conference aimed at reducing and responding to domestic violence throughout Rensselaer County. District Attorney Abelove plans to offer attendees the opportunity to hear from and network with professionals in the field, as well as provide a variety of workshops which fit their interests and training needs.

Abelove said, “I am grateful that Senator Marchione has secured this vital funding for our office. Although October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, my office takes domestic violence seriously every day. This funding will assist law enforcement, prosecutors , and others who deal with these cases to enhance their knowledge, improve their skills, and share information, all with the goal of protecting victims of domestic violence.”
