Troy- Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M. Jimino has announced another welfare fraud arrest following an investigation by the County’s Department of Social Services Investigators.
Brenda Lind of Troy was arrested for applying for and receiving public assistance she was not entitled to. Lind was arrested by Troy Police on 3/12 and charged with Grand Larceny 3rd, Welfare Fraud 3rd, & Filing a False Instrument. In this case County Investigators uncovered bank deposits amounting to over $62,000 while the individual was receiving public assistance. Lind had received over $13,000 in benefits over that same period of time. “Entitlement fraud is a crime against all of us as it is a theft of the tax dollars our government demands of us. Rensselaer County under my administration will continue to be dedicated to ensuring that only those entitled to these State and Federal entitlement programs that we are charged with administering will have access to them. I want to commend the investigators at the Department of Social Services as well as the Troy Police Department for their ongoing efforts and partnership,” said Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M.
